We had this outdoor set ordered by an architect friend who is known for building houses at Costa Esmeralda, a new nearby beach development in Argentina. In this case, for his own house surrounded by a pine forest.
I designed the whole structure in 2”x4” with mortise and tennon joinery, covered by 1” boards for seats and table top. The hardwood chosen was cancharana, a beautiful redwood, inexpensive and from the same family that south american red cedar (Cedro misionero), a good choice for outdoors when on a budget.
The finish was teak oil, which require maintenance though he didn’t mind the furniture naturally aging into grey.
